Get to know us

During the year you have the opportunity to join, visit or meet us at different events. We will hold workshops with different experts from the energy sector who will share their views on the latest developments concerning smart grids. Together we will discuss, how the electricity grid of tomorrow will be like and what we can do to push the technological modernization ahead.

You will also have the chance to visit our stand during different fairs which deal with smart grid technologies and the digitalization. In addition we will visit different events on this topic ourselves. We would be glad to arrange a personal meeting together with you and our ICT experts.

EXPERT GROUP MEETING ON “TELECOM & ENERGY – Collaborating to Power the Smart Grids for Digital Growth”
Where Room G1, ITU Headquarters, Place des Nations, 1202 Geneva, Switzerland
When 28 February 2017

Read more about it

Smart grid, the vision of modernized and efficient electricity distribution enabled by the latest information and communication technologies (ICT), has been identified by governments and policy makers around the world as a way of addressing global warming and energy independence. Collaboration of telecommunications and energy providers can play a crucial role in making the roll-out of smart grid more efficient and successful. While the potential for cost reduction, for example by sharing infrastructure, is obvious, in practice there are only few examples of actual collaboration visible.

Target Group

The workshop will gather mainly NRAs and telecommunications companies to examine barriers for cooperation from the NRAs and Telco’s point of view (similar meetings with energy network operators have been already carried out).

Topics of the workshop

  • Session 1: Regulatory and Policy Frameworks for Smart Grids -Telecom and Energy   Working Together
  • Session 2: Telecom Regulators Perspective on Collaboration with Energy Sector
  • Session 3: Telecom and Energy operators’ view
  • Session 4: Open discussion on identified issues
  • Session 5: ENERGISE Toolkit – Way Forward

The 1st ENERGISE workshop will gather smart grid experts from NRAs, national ministries and industry associations in Europe. The workshop will offer a unique opportunity for exchange among key stakeholders representing the energy and telecommunications sectors, which so far have remained mostly separate and developed their respective positions and strategies on smart grids in parallel. The ENERGISE project exists to bridge this apparent gap. This workshop, which marks the starting point in a series of follow-up events in various European locations, will make an important first step towards an integrated view on the smart grid. Not only will it make the sector-specific state-of-play accessible to participants from the respective other sector, it will also critically assess ways in which both sectors may co-operate in future communications infrastructure deployment for smart grids.
